You and your personal success story are the greatest tool you have in your network marketing business.
“It’s the one tool that will carry you down the road to success.”
Most people would rather hear a personal story about someone than be talked to directly (either in a teaching setup or really in any other situation).
In fact, it’s much easier to persuade people using a personal story, than by merely throwing facts and figures at them.
You want your personal story to be full of real-life experiences, struggles and successes you’ve had.
Now, the first thing I usually hear when this is brought up is this:
“I don’t have much experience in this topic. I don’t have many failures or struggles yet.”
I want you to keep in mind that the more vivid the picture you present others about you, the more powerful your story and your experiences will be.
But this comes up a lot, so I want to address it.
If you don’t have a really dramatic story, or really much of a story at all, there are some things you can do to begin building your testimonial, and you can do these right now.
Start by answering some of these questions:
If you don’t yet have a personal story of success and accomplishment, you need to step back and take a serious look at your life. Why? Because you HAVE a story – you just need to find it.
Take a look at the questions I wrote above.
You have struggled! (You’re human, aren’t you? I’m making that assumption)
Everyone over the age of 12 or 13 has struggled with something in life. If your personal story deals with what you’ve done in your company…Great! If not, you have another story you can build rapport with.
Now I’m not talking about the “I walked uphill both ways to school and we ate dirt when I was a kid.”
As entertaining as those embellishments can be…not what I’m referring to here.
Think back. Really.
Try to think back to a time when you were told you couldn’t do something…and YOU DID.
Maybe a time when you had to overcome something in the face of what seemed like overwhelming odds…yet you accomplished it anyway!
You can do this!
Once you have that story in mind, write it out. Then tailor it to your own startup in the company or opportunity you’re in now.
Your personal success story is the source of many a good relationship going forward. They’ll feel you, they’ll understand you, they’ll want to keep talking to you.
